SPANISH STUDENTS SPECIAL

Tlaxcala City

PRACTICE YOUR SPANISH WHILE HAVING FUN!  Come to the heart of Mexico and immerse yourself in the language, customs and culture of this beautiful country.  Bring your classroom learning to life in unforgettable ways through direct daily contact with the people and places you only hear about in class.  Everything you do, from buying a taco or a tapete, to visiting historic sites, todancing the night away at alocal club, will enhance and reinforce your language learning.  And you will have a great time doing it!

“La Quinta Amada” is a small bed and breakfast located in the hillside village of San Juan Totolac in the central Mexican highlands, 75 miles from Mexico City and just a mile from the state capital city of Tlaxcala.  This is the site of towering volcanoes, pre-Hispanic ruins, beautiful colonial architecture, lovely plazas, and colorful fairs and festivals.  It was here that Hernán Cortés convinced the independent Tlaxcalans to ally themselves with him against their long-time enemy, the Aztecs.  The rest, as they say, is history.

Since there are few American tourists in Tlaxcala, and even fewer in San Juan, the local people are open, friendly, and often eager to engage you in conversation.  You can practice your Spanish while buying tamales from the vendor who passes our house every morning, or while buying delicious quesadillas or tostadas in the evenings from the friendly Señora down the street.  And your B&B hosts, native Tlaxcalan Jaime Sánchez and his American wife Sharon, will be happy to converse with you in Spanish and give you access to dictionaries, grammars, books and films in Spanish—even provide an English translation in a pinch!

Whatever your interests, you will find much to do here in Tlaxcala:  visit pyramids, museums and churches, enjoy wonderful food, shop for handicrafts,  hike in the hills, go out to a disco or dance club, attend a fiesta, brave the bustling open-air market, relax on the terrace, or play soccer with the neighbors on our half-acre grounds.

Our SPANISH STUDENTS SPECIAL includes accommodation in a sunny, spacious room with private bath, plus a complimentary breakfast buffet, for only $225 a week per person, based on double occupancy.
